COOPERATIVES
Cooperative Businesses Make Sense
A co-op is owned by the people who use it.
Quincy Natural Foods works to promote local
ownership, economic democracy and
environmentally friendly business practices.
Being a cooperative means that we operate our
business according to principles that are shared
by consumer-owned co-ops around the world. |
The Seven Cooperative Principles:
- Voluntary and open membership
- Democratic member control
- Member economic participation
- Autonomy and independence
- Education, training, and information
- Cooperation among cooperatives
- Concern for community
Co-ops are formed by their members when the marketplace fails to provide needed goods or services at affordable prices and acceptable quality. Throughout the world, cooperatives are providing co-op members with financial services, utilities, consumer goods, affordable housing, and other services that would otherwise not be available to them. |
Co-op members elect representatives to serve on our Board of Directors and participate directly by voting, attending meetings and events, and offering regular feedback and suggestions. Everyone is welcome to shop at our co-op. We hope you'll choose to become a member-owner and join our community of cooperation.

Cooperatives empower people to improve their quality of life and enhance their economic opportunities through self-help. Quincy Natural Foods is dedicated to providing products and services that are beneficial to the health of our members, our community and our environment. |
In an effort to give back to the community Quincy Natural Foods and Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation established the Quincy Natural Foods Cooperative Community Fund in 2005 to provide financial support to local non-profit organizations working on issues relating to sustainable agriculture and organic food, hunger and social issues, environmental protection and education.
